Hunting revs.

Post by pete » Sun Apr 20, 2014 12:24 pm

The idle on my car has been better.
Between 900 and 1100 at "idle" but often when you stop it sits at 2000 until it either has a bit of a think or you give it a sharp blip of the throttle.
Any ideas?

See Craig's thread on similar subject. Vacuum leak is quite likely, though what you describe sounds like maybe the throttle isn't shutting properly. If you can get it to sit at 2,000 RPM and then walk round to the boot and manually force the throttle shut, and the revs drop, then that's your answer.

Also it might just be that the TPS has drifted a little ... so you can reset the calibration easily enough, ignition on (not cranking or running), throttle to the deck and back 10 times, ignition off, count to 30 (perhaps do a small dance at this point also), then see whether it's any better.
