i seem to have a slight problem with the car after its been driven hard. When i am just driving along at say 40mph its as if it want to hold back and slow down :? and a little bit hoppy. Then when you put the foot down it still pulls fine. Dont want to put it into MMC with all the bad press they are have just now any ideas?

Cheers
Craig

Sounds like its missing on light throttle openings.

It could be a number of things but it would probably be worth doing a diagnostic check on it. I have a feeling it may be the lambda sensor.

Hmmm...mine did a similar thing after a rear shunt...turned out to be the throttle sensor. Started off like u say but got quickly worse till no power at all....the MIL came on after a bit as a result

I have had the same thing with the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) being out or faulty wiring to the TPS.

Give each wire a good tug (that's the three wires going into the engine side of the throttle body) - you might find one just comes out in your hand!

Finally, you can disconnect the TPS once the car is warm and idling and then open the throttle a bit - compare the chugging you get with what you're experiencing on the road ...

Cheers,
Robin

(P.S. If the TPS has shifted it's range you can sometimes compensate by resetting ECU - power off, 7 full press/release on accelerator, power off, count to 20, but this probably won't be a long term fix).

If resetting it keeps fixing it for a while it probably isn't wires - more likely the TPS itself is rough - I would swap the TPS and see what happens - there will be some spares about the place if you ask nicely ... you might also want to check it hasn't come loose in some way.

Cheers,
Robin

Still here but the internet is a bit clockwork here at my parents and non exisitant at the g/f's.

Fitted the front calipers and starter motor to a Marlin Berlinetta (Morgan esque thing) today, painting hallways for my bro tomorrow and fitting the radiator in the evening then we are going for a start....

Colone V6 from a Cortina, no alternator, no wiring harness, no fuel tank, no air filter, no exhaust (Should sound awesome if it goes...!) and it hasn't run since 1985-ish.

Should be a giggle...!
