S1 Anti Roll bar / bushes

Post by Corranga » Mon Jun 03, 2013 8:12 pm

Ok... so I'm looking to get some ARB bits ordered, probably bushes, drop links and maybe even a bar, so I have a couple of questions..

First, judging by the pic below, should I be replacing the bar, or am I ok giving it a sand down and a lick of hammerite (or something else..?)

Next, do I have old block type bushes or newer curved ones (they look like blocks to me anyway...)

Now, if I do indeed have the old type, Elise Shop says:

specially designed for all cars that have the 'old' anti roll bar in place - does this mean I need the newer type, plus conversion brackets to fit a newer standard ARB?
(prior to VIN W3039) - makes sense, I reckon mine is 2727.

Thanks all,
Chris

That is the old type bushes. Curiously, newer cars have the later rubber and alloy mounts but the Lotus Sport adjustable ARB uses the older block type. If you want to convert to the newer typle mounts I have 2 sets of them and 2 ARB, one from an S1 and one from the 111R,
Without seeing the ARB difficult to tell but looks pretty corroded in the picture.
