The mosnter has awoken!

Feck me. What a difference a decent manifold makes!
This is me again:<BG>

The torque has by my reckoning moved back down and massively improved. Peak torque seems now to be at a more friendly 4k RPM. Probably running rich apparently due to the lack of Lambda, but it all works fantastically!

Had to stop twice on my little jaunt to let the smoke clear (I couldn't see behind me...) Lots of concerned people at the pub window, but it has stopped for now and the smell is abating.

All I need now is to fit the PRRT (Still FFS!) and find a bigger TB.

mmmmm....

got me wondering about looing for a cheap plastic one just to try it...

I think my car has good torque but have never had a plastic manifold on to compare.

I think maybe I will stick with Shugs advice and rev the SH*t out of it instead.
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

Fitted. Seems to have flattened the torque a bit but it is now pulling form 2.5k upwards! No huge peak at 4.5 but much more flexible and still more than enough (For now!)

Feeling poor ATM, so RR will have to wait!

So taking account of everything I can remember and including all P&P etc:
Head (bare) £30 e-bay
Valves £40 e-bay
Spare head (complete) £70 e-bay
VVC inlet £60 Shug
4-2-1 £220 Some bloke in leeds
55mm TB £50 TSF
Piper 270 Cams £190 SELC*CK
Gaskets £50
Verniers £80 4mil

Stuff I already have:
Hurricane £150 New LizBitz
De-Cat £30 e-bay
Larini £350 new Larini

Stuff I have left:
Complete head
Plastic inlet manifold
Tools Various Including dremel
Old cams

Stuff that still nees doing:
Learn to drive properly :P

The low port head and the old valves/caps/springs have gone to the owner of a 1.4 8 valve rover 25 that has just blown it's HG.

Total cost:
~£750 (but the spare head is worth ~£150 and Tom has bought my old flexi for £50)

Was it worth it?
I think so, I doubt you would have got as far using one of the professional outfits, DVA 13a kit is £880 and you have to supply the head...

I am chuffed at what we have achieved. It is we as I had more than a little help form several members, be it advice, a helping hand, a driveway, cups of tea, some old spares, and quite alot of encouragement! :thumbsup It will be good to get it RR'd to see exactly what we have achieved... (122 Bhp probably :roll)

So who want's their head ported next then?
