Hi all,

I am attempting to swap my dodgy alternator out for a good one, (Many Thanks Nizzy ;-) ) and have the wheel & underpinning removed...but I can't see anyway to get at the alternator..it's tighter than a mouses ear lol :) Any help/advice, much appreciated.

Cheers,
Pete

Hi all, had to pack it up for the nite, too dark :( I managed to get that 2 x 15mm bolts out and the 8mm tensioner bolt...but still don't have the alternator out...I think the 2 electrical connections at the back are on with a 10mm nut, and altho I can get a 10mm socket on...I can't seem to get any attachement to it, tried a knuckle joint...I wonder if this needs to go on ramps and the back undertray removed..? any help/advice more than welcome...even better an experienced mechanic free 2mrw would be Ace lol :)

Cheers,
Pete

They can be tight to got out , no benifit in removing the undertray in my experience.

Try to move it in and out, as there is a sliding sleeve on the top of the mount, you need to get that to move to get some space to get it out. Sometimes a large screwdriver in from the top and gently lever it works.
Once its moving, it comes out through the gap at the engine mount.

Remember to diconect the battery.
