Federal 595 RS-R Tyres

Post by SAJ » Sun Jan 01, 2012 11:32 am

Has anyone got any experience with these tyres?

I've always considered Federal as a cheap budget tyre but been reading a number of good reviews about them. How do they compare to R1-Rs?

A friend has them on a 400 HP Focus and they seem to have lasted well even with lots of track abuse. They come with simillar tread depth to R1R`s but in exige sizes, 888`s are only £30 more per tyre - so I`ve never tried them personally.

AD08`s would be my choice for an all rounder.

Thanks, I was looking at the AD08s too, another Europa owner has just bought some today so I'll see how he gets on with them.

I have AD08's on my VX and they have been great. I also have a good contact in Fife for getting them at good prices!

Depends on what deals he can get from Yokohama at the time. If you want prices then let me know and I'll get in touch with him.

Well my rear 888's on my spare wheels are at about 0.5mm now so time to replace.

I found a shop selling Motorsport tyres on eBay Poland, feedback score was only 8 but all positive including 1 refund so I took a gamble. RS-R's arrived in 3 days ! £80 each and £15 postage.

Treadwear rating is a lot higher than 48's or 888's at 140 so they should last a little longer (have a Stelvio trip coming up in May, so they'll be ideal for that). They still only have 5mm of tread so they might not overheat too much on the occasional trackday. Tread pattern looks like water clearing should be improved too but will still keep a set of 48's going for summer fun.

Look forward to your impressions after a few miles.

What's the link to the Poland eBay shop you used?

Seller is oponysportowe if you can't find it from that PM me an email and I'll share the link from eBay mobile (it won't let me paste and copy for some reason).

The FZ201's at £120 look pretty good and some of the ring hire companies are reporting good things of them but no compatible front sizes ATM.

Saj, you had a White S5 before ? Think I met you at an EvoT meet at 4th bridge ?

Just ordered a set of these for the TVR mega cheap compared to R888 in fact less than half the price. Looking forward to seeing if they are any good.

Haven't driven on mine yet, I've just had them mounted on my spare wheels. The 1st thing I noticed was the weight, they're much heavier than 888's but in fairness 888 sidewalks are very thin and these are properly thick. They also needed nearly 100 Psi to seat them !!

Hoping to get some feedback from you guyz before I take the plunge, but given the cost of them I might just get a set anyway.
