Sports Cat for S2?

Post by Tommy Twist » Mon Jun 13, 2011 8:56 pm

Hi folks,

Is there much to be gained in torque or responsiveness by replacing the S2 1ZZ's OEM cat with a sports cat? And would an ECU remap be required having made the switch?

No complaints about the car's current performance as such, just thinking ahead to exhaust replacement time...

:cheers

Well the cat ought to last a looong time. My S1's done 90k miles and not a blip on last year's MoT emissions report.

So whilst this won't add many horses, if any, I'd be tempted to spend the cash on a nice stainless tailbox with a bit of character instead.

LOL Ross.

Well I did think bits of mine must surely be leaving by now, but when the exhaust was off two or three years back, we had a squint and there was still a mesh in there !

Of more concern is the gradual loss of casing layers to rust...I think the next one will, in true pass the parcel stylee, be The Big One :-)

OK, doesn't sound like a popular mod. Perhaps the factory cat isn't so restrictive.

TBH, I'd probably be better saving up for a set of forged alloys... more quickness, finer handling and a better ride (in theory).
