Well its fitted.

Not totaly problem free but its running.

My God its quick.

The car used to run out of puff after 6000 rpm but it now pull strong right to the limiter. .

Good stuff, I've tracked down a 56mm now too. Just got to get hold of it....

standard and waiting for it to stick....

In this pic you can see the small bore breather hose, (the white one) that goes roughly where the original hose should be. I drilled a 4mm hole through the un-finnished moulding spar and mounted the hose onto that.

I was thinking about fitting an oil catch tank and seperate breather... I dont know if the small hole is big enough...

Just keep and eye on it and see what happens. Probably not worth it. If it looks like it is clagging up then enlarge the hole. Catch tank will just soot up eventually anyway if the hole's not big enough.

if you look at the throttle body in this pic you can see there has been part of the casting taken off and a hole drilled and tapped for the idle adjuster screw. I dont know what was here originaly as it was modified by the bloke I bought it off.

The other problem is the actuator cam that the cable goes to, it isnt the same profile as the std cam. I needed another inch of throttle pedal travel to get full open on the new throttle body. It was a quick easy fix by adjusting the throttle end stop under the pedal. The original cam may fit but I havnt had time to play around with it, still building the garden shed. I have the upgrade throttle lever pivot kit (pedal box) fitted which gives three pick up points for the throttle tie bar, I should be able to get full open with the original pedal travel if I spend time messing around with this.

I havnt found the extra travel to be a problem, if anything it is easier to balance throttle mid corner as you dont need to be so fine with your adjustments.

John where did you get the 56 TB and how did it cost if you dont mind me asking???

this one has the plastic cam fitted, so it looks like it will fit, might get a chance to get it out and change it in the next few days, to see if it is a straight swap over.

I just had the std plastic one which was sticking like a really sticky thing, which was my main motivation for changing it. When I found these 56mm jobs going for pennies I thought, might as well try it. Better than giving elise parts £140 notes...

As you can see I have a coolflow induction kit on it as well. The two combined make a very noticable difference, especialy at higher revs.

I too have el coolflow, but ripped off the tumble-tryer ducting as it was rattling too much. Have you had to clean yours yet?

I assume your talking about the oil filler cap. The air filter housing is chromed plastic.

Not had to clean it yet but I have the K&N oil and cleaner stuff that I use on my S6. When it was out for the throttle fitting it looked Ok. Only had it on for a few thousand miles. The whole point of the coolflow is the ducting, your just pulling hot air in from the engine bay. Not good.
