Folks,

What oil are you running in your K-Series motors? I have Miller 10-40 Fully Synth Racing Oil in mine (apparently!?).

What are you guys running?

I've been using Mobil 1 0w-40 since I got the car. The engine is still working, 12 years in ;-)

The manual lists a range of grades depending on the ambient temperature.

The S2 version suggests cold grade of 0-20W where 0W is for extreme cold climates and a hot grade of 50-60W.

Mobil 1 15W/50 and Castrol Formula RS 10W/60 are the recommended oils.

For the S1 (which is the very same engine, of course) the manual lists a range from 5W/20 to 20W/50 with a table to show you which is appropriate for your ambient temperature.

Any of the oils mentioned in this thread will be OK provided you don't rev the knackers out of it from cold.

Cheers,
Robin

I have Valvoline Racing VR1 5W50 in my S1.

use the 20W50 in tuned Minis for years and seemed a good oil, so went with the 5W50 for the K series, which reminds me it's due a change!

I've got the same 10-40 Millers stuff in mine, seems ok. I picked it as a good medium range oil. There are loads to choose from and for a wide range of prices. Got mine from Opie Oils.
