BBS Alloy Wheel - Split Rim Bit needed.....

Post by a4drk » Wed May 04, 2011 9:53 pm

I've bought a set of BBS "108" Style alloys for my Z4,
They are split rims & i need to split them to re-furb the rims.

First point of contact is Andy G's massive Teng toolbox tomorrow,
but TBH, I think it's a specialist tool.

Does anyone have one I could borrow ?

Will exchange for beers....

Cheers
David
Two negatives make a positive but only in Scotland do two positives make a negative - 'Aye right.'

I split my old BBS RS's it was a 6 point E12 (i think) socket, they look like they are torx though?

I had to heat them up and use a rubber hammer round the edge

Think its got more splines than a torx.

Biggest Torx I have got is a T45 & T50

going to try it tho....

On the Z4 forum...... Apparently the 8mm one doesn't fit.

The alloys arrive t'row - so im going up to Andy G's to raid his 50 drawer Teng Tool chest...........

play it by ear....

Halfrauds have got the bit.
Its called a 12 point Torx
unfortunately i need to buy a rail of 8 of them
only £23 tho.... .

Got quoted £400 to refurb them today ! - ouch ........

middle parts are OK.
Plan is to split them & spray paint the rim then laquer.
