Exhaust Heat Shield

My car is in MMC for a service and it appears the exhaust heat shield has perished
The cost to replace was about £270 which i thought was a bit excessive
Would i be better getting this

The original part from Bell & Colville is in 2 bits at about £52 each

I'm guessing it's the 'U-bend' which is normally the first part to go. You could try the nimbus but it's quite an akward shape and holding it in place would be the problem, existing bolts probably rusted to nothing in the exhaust. SS cable ties been known to work after it falls off and sets fire to your carbon undertray...
Alternatives could be to just leave it off or a simple heat wrap (much cheapness).

You'll hear both arguments...
I ran without on a 2bular and no ill effects. I had no rear panels though so better airflow...and melted the odd numberplate.
My personal opinion, I'd just leave it off.

I have left the u-bend heatshield off the Europa, with no ill-effects but that doesn't have the undertray below the engine so gets more cooling.

If the original shield is still there but just failed around the bolt holes you could perhaps just use SS cable ties - I have some.
The way you drive the car, heatshield is probably a luxury you can live without

Very odd as my car is due in on Thursday to have the exact same thing repaired!!!
Craig is going to just remove mine completely and fit exhaust wrap on the U-bend - i'll have some left over if you can wait until then.

It's the black ceramic 1200c wrap so should work nicely.
