Getting car up to track temp

Normally, once I get to KH car is nicely up to temp. Follow then the obligatory 30mins faffing and briefing, so some temp is lost. Normally try to keep the car under 4k for the 1st lap back out, then probably just give it 1k a lap increases and off I go.
What's the best procedure? should I be doing a couple of laps with 4k gearchanges?
thankyouplease.

Get your arse into the pit lane PDQ after the briefing session and leave the engine to warm up whilst you faff around putting helmet, storing roof and removing junk from the cabin.
works a treat.

In colder weather it's cold tyres thro' the first corners that you need to watch.
Whoops, was that McIntyres?.............

yep, i warm up tyres and brakes more than engine. Obviously if engine is stone cold then wait for 2 or 3 laps until you gun in, but if you've driven up from edinburgh then it'll still be warm after 30 mins faffing

Ach, I just go straight on the track. The engine heats up just fine when there is no oil or coolant in there to cool it down.

I agree with Shug, I notice the difference in the tyres most, but take a tame lap then up the pace as i leave the hairpin
Having said that.....past experience might not point to that being the choice of champions...but chaps, I will be returning soon
