Rivnut Gun

Post by Kinger » Sat Apr 02, 2011 4:39 pm

Was hoping to fit my Elise-Shop Toe Link upgrade this weekend then I releaised that I need a Rivnut gunfor the rivnuts to fit the shear plates. Tried to get one this morning in town, but no joy. Just wondered if anyone in the Aberdeen area had one that I could borrow for a couple of days.

Cheers

Use a nut and bolt?

Just wind the nut onto the bolt, screw the bolt into the rivnut.
Install the rivnut and hold the bolt head while 'undoing' the nut.
It will form the rivnut no problem.

When I fitted my set I'm pretty sure they came with a set of small nuts & bolts rather than rivnuts (there was also the option to rivet the plate on, but I wasn't keen on that).

Thanks Gents,

I'll give the nut and bolt method a go tomorrow, I was just worried it wouldn't compress properly and I'd be left with it spinning and it would be a bitch to drill it back out.
