No Cross-gate gear selection

As you can guess by the title I managed to nurse the elise back from Dundee this morning with only 3rd and 4th gears... Lost my cross gate selection giving it some welly off the perth roundabout. Anyway, before I climb under the car tonight I thought I would post here to see if there was anything specific I should be looking for. I assume that its the linkage thats came loose or something around that area.. Fingers crossed its simple. Knowing my run of luck so far it ain't....
If it helps.. I lost 5th, but still had 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th, then I lost them all except 3rd and 4th. In a way I was lucky as if I was stuck with only 1st and 2nd I would have been stuck in Dundee and lets face it who wants to be there...

(only joking)..

Cross gate cable might have popped off at either the lever end or the gearbox end.
If it's all okay at the gearbox end, check under the gear lever housing - it's only a pop on plastic balljoint.

My money is on the clip that is supposed to hold the rear end of the cross-gate cable to the bracket; when these fall out, the cable has nothing to push/pull against. You can make do with some bodgery and a tie wrap until you can source a new clip; makes sense to tie wrap the new clip in so that it cannot fall out.
Cheers,
Robin

+1 for the sh!t clips at the gearbox end. Fit new ones and cable tie them in place.

if its not the clip, the braided cable surround might have frayed.

I've had a clip let go, but always been able to get a gear - but I see how it could happen...

Thinking about it it might be the gear bellcrank bolts working loose seeing as you lost gears progressively.

And the winner is..........
Bellcrank Nuts and Bolts... Missing parts 29,30,31,34....
Easy fix as long as there are parts available...
Cheers Guys.

Cable tie the clips in while you are down there.

Cable ties will certainly be fitted... It was probably the elisepart gearlinkage kit that caused this problem... a.k.a me fitting it two years ago...
Thank goodness this is a hobby and not a real car...
