for spending last night ripping my engine to bits and replacing bit of it with items off their own cars in an attempt to find out why my car was running so badly.

top blokes and i think it's safe to say Mac will pass his structures and if ian needs a hand with his decking i'm available for sawing and hammering duties!

We've pin pointed the problem to be something to do with the engine and/or perhaps the management system :D

Actually, we have a fair idea of where the problem lies or if not the root cause certainly something that's big enough of an issue to be smokescreening the main problem.

Mac

PS: don't mention it

I was on official 'stand back and make important sounding noises' duty. Credit due to mac for doing the tearing apart and rebuilding. Credit to me for having a torch.

Trying to plan the decking stuff now. Don't know yet if it'll happen before next weekend though.

Good luck with the bits when they arrive.

^^^ lol

put the stepper motor, idle speed control valvue thingey on last night. the car's idling a bit better but still thinks idle should be 1500 rpm so it amy take it a little while to learn that the little plastic block isn't there now (previous bodged repair by a local garage if anyone's wondering, the plastic block kept the throttle body open slightly to keep the car from reving at 500rpm and dying on me. think this lead to my plugs sooting up and the poor running i've been getting)

car's still not running at all well so i'll replace the engine temperature sender later tonight and see if that helps.

may be working in time for the bbq!

From what Mac's told me, the S2 will take a fair wee while idling, to re-learn how to use the IACV properly. Give it time....
