I got a set of wiper/indicator stalks from Santa. Please dont tell me i have to cut the originals, to allow these to screw on?

I looked at them many years ago but didn't buy them as you had to butcher the originals ( not sure if all replacements are the same though)

New originals are cheap though, I paid £8 on eBay for one sides a while ago, don't worry about butchering them. Plus they're not hard to fit/remove.
