I get a good inch out of the pedal before the throttle opens - is there an easy fix or are things working as intended?

It's probably play in the lever arm bracket thingy in the footwell.

did the job for mine and I fitted it in ten minutes flat. Chances are you won't be getting full throttle either.

Believe it or not, it's actually a piece of piss. There are 2 screws and one nut (on the pushrod) that you need to undo upside down in the footwell, then the whole caboodle is free for you to perform the operation in reasonable comfort.

Was pleasantly surprised - did mine when I was changing the engine and it was a job I completed in the time it took Hambo to go into the house, make a brew and a couple of cheese rolls.

Wasn't aware this kit was available, I did mine sometime agao basically stripped it down and renewed all moveable/worn parts.

and as shug says it is easy due to it being able to drop down and not having to become a gymnast

The kit has a nice sealed cartridge bearing in the pivot. Quite possibly overkill, but it works a treat

One thing to look at as well.. the poly bush on the main pivot point may have cracked and dropped off. (mine has) The only way to fix that is removal of the pedal box and fit a new one.. bit of a nightmare job apparently.

Its on my to do list.. I temp fixed it with a tyrap but keeping a close eye on it. First noticed it when my throttle went beyond the end stop and stuck full on, on the approach to a T junction of all places. If the bush is missing the pedal can move sideways about 10mm and it clears the bolt used as an end stop.

How much side to side play should there be?

Mine seems to have an inch or so (maybe more) that I didn't notice until I read about wear in the throttle bearing. Too much infomation is always a dangerous thing where I am concerned.

Try pushing the pedal as close to the brake pedal and have a look to see how big a gap there is. You should see a white plastic bush (top hat shape) If that is missing it is a pedal box out job to fix.

wee update on my situation - robin sorted the play by adjusting the throttle cable.

Yeah - was that the only problem though? Must have been I suppose - Robin wouldn't bodge it & scarper!

Any other way to fix the pedal movement from side to side ??? Don't fancy a pedal box out job
