Brake Upgrade - 340R

Thinking about upgrading the brakes on the 340R.
Standard brakes at the moment with S/S hoses all round.
I will most definitely upgrade the pads but wondering whether or not to do the discs as well. Brakes feel as if they need a bit more bite. Fast road and track use.
Has anyone fitted the aluminium discs supplied by Elise Parts?
Any advice/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Si, look forward to a run in the not to distant future. No pics of car yet but I'll be sure to get some shortly.
Car is standard colours, with an F1 air intake sticking out the nearside above the passengers head. Awesome noise & looks the bollocks :D

Speak to Shug - he got the Ali belled discs from eliseparts. I think Stu Pollock does a mean line in disks himself, search under muts nuts.

Looking forward to seing you out soon :D

Your best bet if money is no option would seem to be AP5000 rotors on Geary's ally bells, paired up with Padgid RS 4-2s and braided hoses.

You won't get an improvement in braking by replacing the discs, but they will wear less and be less prone to warping (standard Lotus are cheese)

A more budget oriented option would be SBS pads and EBC discs. Stu stopped doing the full ally-belled numbers, but he can supply vented EBC discs which he machines with the funky MutsNuts spiral grooves (to deglaze pads) Those & SBS would be my choice on a cost/performance scale.

Cheers Shug. I think I will speak to Stu about the discs. I'm about to bleed the brakes anyway so will replace the pads now and see what difference i feel, then change the discs once I get a couple of track days out of the ones on the car.

The pad choice is what will make the difference. I fitted standard Pagid plain discs, and standard pads to elise last month, and used them at Donnington, more than enough stopping power for the AD08,s that were fitted. I have to say though, going back to driving the elise , you forget how hard you have to press the pedal with no servo. CL6,s will improve the bite, if you can stand the squeeze, and Mintex F6 will do the same, but they are a metallic pad, so not good for your wheels.
