Honda wiring

I've read various build threads on here, seloc & mloc and I (naively and optimistically) reckon I can have a go of a Honda coversion using the stark lite kit. The spannering and plumbing hold no fears but what I am a bit confused about is the wiring, even with Alan's wiring schematic on his conversion thread :?

Does anyone know of a supplier who would create a loom to link an S1 to the UK spec K20 with Hondata kpro ecu?

Failing that is there a list of all the connectors etc that you need? Maybe it is clearer when things are in bits...

Cheers
Rob

Is this because you do not want to use the Stark wiring loom?

They don't provide one for the hondata though they used to for the DTA ecu

They will do one for the Hondata. Or I could supply one.

As far as I know, that is the configuration that Alan is using for Colin's car, K-Pro with the Stark loom.

Tut, I make my own looms. Always have.

Stark don't supply one but I think if you ask they will convert the K20 Loom for you.

Rob,

I'm wiring a 340R up at the moment, only took a day and that has a lot more wiring than a standard conversion.

I start of with the relays, then sensor wires and then 02 sensor.

If you don't take Dan up on his offer post what your struggling with and i'm sure we can help.

I am probably being a bit slow - electrical numpty - and my confusion is at a pretty basic level!

Without anything in bits in front of me I guess I am struggling to build up a picture of what the various connectors are for - what are the Honda / lotus parts and how you join them up. I probably need to understand what each of the elise connectors do first....will go do a search about the standard loom.

I saw a picture of your conversion loom on Seloc with the largish black box and 6 smaller connectors (3 black, blue, white, clearish) which looked like the various elise loom connectors but i was not clear how the honda loom connects to this - I imagined there would be a plug on the end of the honda loom (the grey c101 plug) that would connect in somewhere (to the larger black box?) but have not seen any pics that clearly show this so am at a bit of a loss at the 'big picture' level how it all goes together....

Cheers

The black box is the Multi-Function Relay Unit (MFRU) and is a standard Lotus/Rover part. The K series uses it and has all the relays you need so best to keep it. You can do it with seperate relays but I prefer to use the MFRU, up to you.

Start off with the Main Relay and what it powers up and things will start to make sense. A good article Here

If you do use that site as a reference ignore anything to do with the 02 sensor, British ECU's are wired up in a different way.

Honda E Connector - Connects to Honda ECU and Fires relays
Honda C101 - Plugs into Elise Loom when modified which contains Various sensor wires (oil pressure, reverse swithc etc). I replace this with a water proof plug or you can connect straight to EHC1&2 (blue and black plugs).

Thats about it on the honda side.

Thanks Alan

I'll start doing a bit more reading and try and make sense of the wiring diagrams.

Why did you replace the C101 with the two plugs on the right? My thought was to leave the Honda loom standard, though that is on the basis that you can get the relevant part that the c101 on the honda loom plugs into?

The C101 is not waterproof and not designed to be in an Engine Bay. I use one plug for the bigger wires (Starter, +feeds to sensors) and one for the smaller sensor wires. Just the way I do it

You would be easier to use the C101, up to you.
