Scottish Elises

Just a quick one, just noticed that there are different spark plugs recommended for N/A exiges and supercharged exiges. for example NGK web site recommends iridium ones for the N/A and laser platinum for supercharged.

Now that the car is supercharged should i change them to a better spec or is that just a waste of money? Also can't see any notes in the maintenance record that the plugs have ever been changed in 6 years and 22,000 miles, would this be right?

I don't think this is strictly necessary Mass. In fact, I'd say it's downright crazy!

They're usually done on the 54k (5 year) service. If thru haven't been done then I'd change them and go one colder in the heat range. They maybe recommend platinum plugs for the SC cars because there isn't an appropriate Iridium plug available in the correct heat range.

Have ordered a set up as if they weren't changed at 5 years so could probably do with a change

Dan, the service book says they need to be changed at every service..... I suppose it's the the Lotus version of Ferrari saying the cam belt needs changing every 3 years

BTW, I've done 10.5k miles and onto the third set of plugs (must be 60% of the mileage on the track )

Unless you are in America, where the import regulations says it can't need changed any less than every 5 years... so hey, the same belts miraculously become more reliable when they cross the Atlantic.

OT.. but my 360 is on its' 3rd set of cambelts .. and it has only done 6,500 miles in 6 years so I guess the indoctrination works
