well i have just collected my car from the bodyshop in aberdeen and they did a great job and very pleased : repaired rear clam spider crack and 2 x doors.

They removed the roof to allow access when respraying the rear clam and removing the engine cover. On driving home the P/S roof seal is squeaking very badly and in desperate in need of fixing.

Can anyone please help before i go crazy :|

cheers

Kevin

Silicone Spray the Seals but best doing it with the roof off.

Spray up the seals then put the roof back on.

P.S Did you use Castle Park ?

hey alan,
cheers i thought of doing that but was a bit worried the spray would eat away at the rubber...ill do that though!!

Yeh castlepark i went to, they have had the car 2 weeks due to needing new window seals and awaiting delivery on backorder from Lotus!

pleased with the finish and nice guys!

Shame they had the car so long, not so good.

My car will be going in shortly to get the rear clam repaired. Glad they're just up the road as I think my car will be in there more than once

Well Alan i went out on my DIY sunday :) and bought some spray. Took the roof back off (firstly why have i never done that before in a nice day) and applied spray to seals against car and roof.

Guess what still F##king squeaking (maybe thats why i haven't removed the roof before) , only at P/S though. If i apply pressure internally the noise goes but i cant drive with one hand raised all the time

Ideas?

Well, you tried Kevin.

Take it back to Castle Park, i'm sure they would sort it our for you. Even with you driving and Neil in the passanger seat.

Maybe the order you do up the fastners?

I've found it's best to do the fronts first (sides then centre) then the rear either side before doing up the middle rear. Just think it gets it centred properly and loaded the right way. Nip them first then go back around in the above order tightening properly...

Spoke with Craig at MMC and he advised similar. So I popped down 1/2 hour ago , loosened all 4 bolts and the cross tightened them...havent taken it on the road yet but im praying its an improvement

well drove home tonight and the constant squeak / creeking is still there :thumbsdown

so for the 5th time since Sunday i took the roof off again when i got home , lub'd it and re-tightened again.

I am really lost for ideas if it does the same tomorrow morning other than driving about without a roof!!!

Just remembered I used to use little felt pads - double-sided sticky stuff you can buy in places like John Lewis - applied in areas of most contact.

:thumbsup

very good idea, i am round the bend...still squeaking this morning.

I will apply my arts and crafts skillset as the next option then.

Thanks for that , see if it works. I owe you MEGA if it does!
