Hey all,

Does anyone know if it's possible to upgrade the original foam S1 cant rails seals to the alter rubber ones?
My car is leaking rather badly at the moment and I'm looking at renewing all the seals/window runner rubbers, etc.

/ignorant moment, What is the cant rail?

Have you tried adjusting the windows?

Mine leaks at the front edge (at least it did back in December before I took it to bits...)

Never seen anything about replacement seals that fit. I do have the latest s2 roof seal at home (for fitting to the leaky vx) so might compare the 2 if I remember to take the seal to the body shop / get my car back tomorrow. It is a 90 quid seal though. It goes up the sides of the windscreen then across the top

The two big bars that you slot onto the side body that the cross bendy ones slot into.

Cant rail is the side rail of the roof - the one that clips between windscreen and roll bar.

Supposedly called that as you shout "C*NT!" when you smack your head off them.

My car has the hardtop on. Still, keen to see if someone else answers

The only issues I can think of regarding that bit would be the window would either:
push the seal up when you ropll the window up
Push the seal in when you close the door.

Surely if you can get a seal that will cope with both of these, then job done?

Hopefully when they read the part about the hardtop, you will get no answers.

Found that the window guide channel rubbers are totally shredded - which doesn't help... woolies do a replacement so I'll get some along with the waist seals.

As for the cant rails the lotus prices are:
Old foam seals: £25
New rubber ones: £7

Looks like I'll try the rubber ones...

Speak to Jamie (ceejam), he is looking into the same thing at the moment

Ordered window channel and waist seals from woolies - will see how it goes. I'll investigate the cant rail seals later if that doesn't work.

Anyways, my 99 S1 has the later front seals on the cant rails but you still get water ingress which wicks is way through from the windscreen header area and drips through between cant rail seal and the top of the windscreen side pillars.

C'est la vie. Keep a wee cellulose sponge or chamois pad handy and all is well

Sorting the waist seals is a good move regardless. Be sure to pop the window out when doing them though. Tiger seal ensures they stay put and stay weather tight.

I was thinking of going the velcro route but T-S would be better

My car doesn't so much leak as actively fills its self with water - when it gets cold I can remove the 1" of water from the footwells as an ice sheet...

The boot lake was iced over the other day too. That was my fault for parking the wrong way though.
