Harness & Harness bar

Right, I've got a pair of Sparco 4 point harnesses, and wondering - do you think they will work in an Elise with a harness bar (which I don't yet have!) or will they be too long?
Also, secondary question, they are not FIA approved - will they be OK for Sprinting & Hillclimbing - From reading the blue book, I think they will be OK as they are not mandatory for road cars.
Cheers
Jamie

If they are wrap around type, then surely they can be shortened easily enough just by adjusting them up and leaving the excess down behind the seat? If they are bolt in style with a seat belt style eye on the end, then I can't imagine how they will fit in an elise...
No idea about the motorsport aspect though.

You can run in a road car class with just seat belts AFAIA, pretty sure one guy that runs an S2 only uses seat belts. If they are a bolt in type then you can use a bolt in harness bar that has captures for, you guessed it, bolt your harnesses too otherwise use a plain bar both types are available.

From the question in the original post, I took it to mean that they were normal length saloon or hatchback style harnesses rather than short elise/caterham style i.e. not designed for a car with a harness bar 2" behind the seats?
If they are in fact short, then a bolt in style harness bar will do the trick as Mike suggests!

They are "clip in" standard length harnesses.
Thinking I might just punt them on ebay and buy a pukka FIA approved, Elise/caterfield one!
Kicking myself as a few years ago I bought what turbned out to be a set of short Caterfield harnesses, which didn't work in the Mini I was building at the time - Vice Versa this time round

Msar were having a clearout and some of their Scroth harnesses at really cheap prices, not sure if it's still on the go but have a look over on SELOC.

And Malcolm and MSAR is a gent - really helpful and quick service.
If you get the Elise specific harness, you'll need the Sector 111 bolt kit to keep the standard seatbelts.
I'm spending Christmas cutting holes in my seat for the harness........
