Will these tyres fit?

Post by vx220 » Fri Dec 11, 2009 5:36 pm

Does anyone know for sure if a 195 tyre (Kumho KU31) will fit on a 5.5J wheel?

Many thanks
Kevin

In theory the 5.5J rim will take tyres from 165mm to 195mm but has anyone actually tried it?

If you can bear it a search on the vx220.org.uk site will show that some people have done it - but personally i'd stick with the standard bridgies and get a better geo
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

Aye managed to get the answer, they answer is YES ! :D

I can get a set of 4 Ku31's fitted for under £220, Bridgies - £460!

Geo on it now is good, very neutral, but just thinking ahead for next tyre change :thumbsup

We stuck with bridgestones on Erica's VX, but as the tyres that come off were harder than the road and 8 years old, can't really comment on their performance. Am keen to hear how you get on with the Kumho if you go there.

I assume that would allow KU31s alll round then?

I have got Bridgies on it at the moment, only put the fronts on this year. But next time they are up for change defo going Ku31's all round, at that price and some of the positive feedback seems a good idea to try them out. Have heard getting the 195/40/17 tyres on the rims is the hard part!!

Nahhhh sadly not, might have to live with the VX for another year now. The VX is slowly turning into an Exige though as I have new Exige shocks coming so that should stiffen things up abit!
