Air Intake
Air Intake
I have found a body shop who can repair the rear clam. The black plastic air intake has been damaged, Is it possible to change this part without removing the rear clam? If so, Is the rear clam bonded anywhere or should it just unbolt?
Re: Air Intake
You could probably get at the plastic bit through the wheelarch - but I'd assume the clam needs to come off to fix anyway. It's only a few bolts, takes half an hour.

Re: Air Intake
You should be able to get it from the inside by removing the wheel arch linner but in order to get the remains of the broken one off you may have to take the clam off anyway as the Black sikaflex or what ever they use to stick them on is likely to be stronger than the moulding itself ~ it can be cut with a very sharp knife/ chisel
the rear clam just unbolts 1 x bolts inside the rear of the door close by the seat belt mount, 1 x on the outside door close, 3 in the wheel arch ~visable with the linner removed, 4 in the rain gutter of the boot opening, 1 x behind the number plate ~if its an early alloy boot box and 4 inside the boot itself

Re: Air Intake
Where is the locking wheel nut removal tool? ive been told it is in the front but all i can see is a can of foam, a radiator and a washer bottle. I keep looking but just cant see it, any diagrams showing where it is? Thanks, Phil.
Re: Air Intake
On the drivers side under the front bonnet there's a black buttress running front to back, sloping down (there's one on each side); in the buttress there's a hole; in the hole is a black tube stuffed; in the tube is the removal tool held in place by a red plastic cap - so look for a red plastic cap and you'll see the rest - it's not far from where the tyre foam is ...
The tube is the tool you use to remove the metal caps from the locking wheel nuts; then use the actual wheel nut tool to remove the wheel nut. Then throw all the wheel nuts and the tool in the bin and order a set of solid wheel nuts from http://www.eliseparts.com ...
Cheers,
Robin

Re: Air Intake
IIRC there is a wee red cap (drivers side towards the windscreen) that will pull out to reveal the locking wheel nut.

Re: Air Intake
I was out taking these when the other guys beat me to the post The Tube with the red top in the first pic holds the wheel lock If its not there you will be able to get the wheel locks off in less than 5 mins with a bolt removing tool ~fluted socket with the flutes on an angle ~hammer it on and screw it off
