How much brake fluid for a full drain flush and change?
Brake fluid boiled at knockhill after 15 laps.. No pad fade at all with Carbon Loraine pads and AP disks..
I was planning to change out the brake fluid, which is probably over a year old now for a higher spec competition version.
The "racers choice" is £50 a litre.. which for a once a year change on car that takes a real hammering I suppose isn't to bad.
However, if the esteemed wisdom reckons that I will need two litres to do a full drain & flush (£100) the the cheaper stuff beckons.

Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

I reckon your better just flushing the normal fluid more often, than the super duper stuff once a year
Re: How much brake fluid for a full drain flush and change?
Never boiled brake fluid in the Elise, thousands of laps of KH, 175bhp engine, late braker . . . used/use Castrol Super DOT4 changed once a year . . . 50 quid a litre is a waste of money

i just flushed out my full system tonight, as i boiled the s2 on standards pads+disc coming over applecross on 050709, lost all brakes for around 30 miles, the handbrake became a very good mate!
you would be right on needing around 2 litres to flush the system, what i would suggest is you flush out the fluid on each corner, starting n/s rear, then n/s front, then repaeat for far side, until you are pulling through new fluid, i used dtandard cheap fluid - didnt see the point in wasting good stuff to cleanb the pipes, my next step is to replace with this stuff,
http://shop.instant-shop.com/JRT-Automo ... 30649.html
Ate fluid, alot cheaper per litre and still very high quality
to fill the s2 from empty you are looking at 3/4 of a litre - so i was told buy the guys @ MMC
anyway, hope this helps you - oh and dont break a bleed nipple like i did, anyone got a spare for the front (need to drill mine out!)?

Kind of what I thought, why I asked the question first rather than diving in and buying some..fd wrote:Never boiled brake fluid in the Elise, thousands of laps of KH, 175bhp engine, late braker . . . used/use Castrol Super DOT4 changed once a year . . . 50 quid a litre is a waste of money
