S2 SC Brake pads - Tight Git

Post by Peter » Mon Jul 13, 2009 4:16 pm

Hi

Had a trawl through posts and looked at the many suggestions and still no wiser. I need a full set of pads before the weekend (in time for KH on Monday), Was thinking of EBC Yellow Stuff as I'm feeling especially tight this month.

Who is cheap and can supply quickly and should I be running a mile from these?

Cheers, Peter (more road than track use faction)

mate - go with Pagids - forget the price - you dont want to scrimp on brake pads  :thumbsup How gutted will you be if you go off because of them?

42's for road and track, or 14's for more "abusive/track/race" driving.

There was some carbotech thing Kenny was trying also.

The yellows do the job Peter if you have to stay at around £50 per axle, but as Andy says, you get what you pay for and Pagids are far better and last longer.

After EBC's and Mintex recently, I am back on Pagid 14s.

I have some 42 rears to go with Campbell's fronts if you wanna go down that route.

1144s are no good for track use. Especially in a heavy SC.

I put EBC yellowstuff onto brand new EBC ultimax discs before the last SIDC, unfortunately it was wet & cool so I never really got to try them in the way I had hoped. I am still getting to grips with the heavier S2 exige (previously S1 elise) and having a servo. My first reaction is that the yellowstuffs lacked bite although that may because they were fairly new (<500 miles) and the cooler conditions. I think that they are perhaps just slightly poorer than the OEM (Brembo?) pads but not much in it.

I really wish I had just stuck some mintex on as they were good enough for my sedate track pace and stood up very well on FF7 in the elise. I very nearly PM'd Campbell about the pagids he had for sale after the SIDC day but it has been an expensive month between tax, MOT, discs/pads, service, 4 x tyres, TD's and all before FF8

Please bear in mind that this is an opinion based on very limited experience of the exige after 4 years of the S1 and clearly the two cars are quite different.
