Front Number Plate - What size?

After crunching my front plate for a second time in a fortnight, it's time for a small one.
I was looking at http://www.fancyplates.com and see they do a 3/4 size one which measures 390mm X 84mm. I measured my plinth and this seems to a wee bit too wee.
Can anyone advise if the have a 3/4 size one on their S1 and is it ok?
Cheers

Can you not get a legal plate that is the same size as the plinth? Right size letters and borders but smaller plate overall. Its only a matter of time before mine finally falls off....

Get a legal one like mine then you won't get a £30 fine when you get pulled over for a 3/4 size one.

Saying that, mine is only small cos it's a private plate with 5 characters.
Dunno if yours will go much smaller than it already is.
I also think 3/4 size ones look a bit chav/ned.

3/4

haven't been stopped yet (2 years).......runs off to touch wood

I think you get away with it cos the Frontal area is about 3/4 of a normal car so it doesn't look too out of place........runs off to touch wood again for good measure.

I have motorbike sized plates front and rear and have done so on 3 cars now without problems. Like baggy said, it looks in proportion. Have been followed and stopped by the cops and nothing has been said.

The pair were under 20quid from the numberplate shop in Glasgow, which is not bad.
