Rear caliper brackets removal
Rear caliper brackets removal
stripping down all the brakes and once you get the caliper off the hub clashes with the lower bracket bolt ( great desingn btw), is there any option other than a complete stripdown, grinding out a notch to get them out for example? Just concerned that might compromise the strength of the hub?! Cheers

Re: Rear caliper brackets removal
IIRC, steve butts ground out a notch on his hub flanges to gain access. It really is a terrible design. A search on SELOC should give you what you need.
Re: Rear caliper brackets removal
Theres a few sporadic references on selcock, i have a set of spare exige rear hubs and the brackets i have dont line up with them either :p
I really cant belive its as shonky designed as that, presumably things like that are not issues on the S2? Even My Old TVR didn't have issues like that

Re: Rear caliper brackets removal
Just been through the same thing.
I was replacing my bearings anyway so didn't make a huge difference.
You have to press out the Hub from the Bearings, Took a heap of pressure to get them cracked. It was over 3000 anyway but don't know for sure as i had my eyes shut for safety reasons. When i was putting them together i though about notching them but was a nervous about remvoing material from the Hubs.
Cheers

Re: Rear caliper brackets removal
i had a search for the thread, but couldnt find it.
IIRCm he notched out a hole to get to the bolt, and then notched another hole on the other side of the hub to make sure it was balanced. I'm sure if you U2U'd him, he would be able to tell you exactly what he did, he's very approachable.
