Cam - Shafted!!

Post by johncam » Fri Apr 24, 2009 5:38 pm

Just a quick follow up to my Misfire thread from last month http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... =5&t=19768

This is what a snapped VVC Cam Shaft looks like...

and one of the VVC gubbins...

Car is now back running better than ever thanks to Ali's handywork.

I don't advise breaking one of these unless you have AA Parts & Labour :thumbsup - the cam shaft is £435 and can't be bought without the VVC Unit, hence the silly price.

Cheers,

Ross - Car has only done around 29,000 miles and was September 2004 registered.

Kenny – Thanks - was a worrying few weeks.

Alan :damnfunny - I agree, the VVC is a pretty cool bit of kit. As its surplus to requirements and if nobody on here wants it then I think I'll clean the oil off it and use it as an unusual paperweight in the office.

A really good shout for Ali McCleary in correctly diagnosing the problem from the symptoms the car had. It saved me a whole lot of Labour time as he didn't need to take the engine apart as my car was behaving the same a busted VVC car they had in Murrays a few years ago.

Cheers,

John
