111R MIL Lights....?

To the rest of the Toyota powered crew -

Anyone else getting MIL light problems. I had one come on a month or so back, MMC took a look and found an 'idling speed too high' code, quick squirt of lube and crossed fingers. Then at Knockhill last night the bugger has reappeared - anyone else seen this? There have been rumours of others folks hitting this. No other side effects so far, back to MMC tomorrow afternoon for the next exiting chapter.

Andy's is more of the limp-home mode engaging.

Colin - when it lights, can you get the 2nd cam to engage, or does it bang the limiter at 6.5k?

Exactly the same story as me! Just had it in for 4 days and Lotus are blaming the induction kit possibly........basically they haven't a clue, and sorry to hear its not a problem specific to me.

Out of interest what mods have you on the engine. I've the stage 2 and the pipercross induction kit.

Thats the same error message I've been getting. I was being told that they though the throttle housing might need replaced at £900! One thing if thats correct, another if its their best £900 guess!

Lets keep in touch with this, as now there's 2 of us, hopefully Lotus will actually do something!

I had a MIL light at Donington during the warm up laps but put it down to new sensor in the Cat and driving like a pussy (low revs but wide throttle openings). Cleared itself by lunchtime and never affected the rev limit. :)

Lucky boy! Mine first came on at the end of a KH tracknight and went in to go home mode! Also sent me sideways when the rev limiter kicked in at 6.5k!

Here's hoping its sorted

More detail on my one: I have the pipercross induction and the stage-2 exhaust, those are the only engine mods. I still get the 2nd cam and didn't have any noticeable reduction in power - I completed the KH evening with it on. It came on after a period of slowish road driving last time. It went off yesterday morning, then popped back on again after about 15miles of road driving, 2nd cam still there for now. Off to MMC this afternoon, update after that one.

Make sure you tell them that if they call Lotus not too mention the induction kit, as the clowns at Hethel are trying to lay the blame on that!

Ali Clark has been working on mine, and Bill and Andrew are also aware of the issue. The car seems to be going well currently, but not hugley confident about how it will hold up on track. Gutted, as it had been going SO well.

The fact I've done 10k since getting it fitted made no difference apparently :(

MMC took a look Friday - computer says something wrong between throttle position v speed, so it goes in on Wednesday for a couple of days to debug some more. Warantee of course ran out a week ago.... Pity also, this one has been pulling very nicely and the Neovas are getting bedded in. Fingers crossed and update in a week.

Colin,
Did you look into extending the warranty? Mine is up at end of June and I am not sure whether to renew it or not. Its getting new DAB54 and couple of other bits fixed under warranty just now before it runs out, but after thats done I am in two minds.

Right, next part of the saga will see the induction kit be replaced with the standard airbox as they start to try and drill down through the options for the potential problem.

Car is back in tomorrow, but to his credit Bill is doing his level best to help get this sorted, as is Ali.

Hoping this is not the permanent fix though, or there will be a redundant £350 induction kit :(

Not a facking hope mate - sorry :( This has all the hallmarks of Lotus scrabbling for an innocent party to pass the buck onto....

Agree, at least they are trying to work through it now though.....can't use the car on track till they have found the issue :(

You feeling better today?
