Brake Disk Skimming?

Post by alicrozier » Mon Apr 13, 2009 10:22 am

At Anglesey my front brakes were suffering - new 308mm grooved rotors and RS14's in the AP 4-pots calipers - not sure if they weren't bedded in well enough but had severe pickup on the disk and bad vibration.

I asked these guys, normally £60 for the pair but will only do plain disks - can't do grooved or cross-drilled.

Any ideas?

I also have the old (still quite new) 308mm drilled rotors that came off - a bit blue and have surface cracking - might also be worth a skim...

Any engineering shop should be able to do it. I would if you can get them to me down in Killie.

My turn around isn't the best as it's done in lunch breaks etc.

Thanks Nizzzy, Stu Pollock has also said he can do it.

Moving house this weekend so will get them off (inc. hubs) and down to Stu next week when the car can sit in a garage.

I guess the problem with doing them on the car is the Pro-cut brake lathe?
