Honda Conversion - Coolant Sensor

I recieved my exhaust from Jim today (Real Nice), this allowed me to get the car up to running temperature. This revealed couple of problems.

Coolant Temperature Sensor is reading 50-55 degrees but it is really 100 degrees. My car is an S1 and as far as I believe you do not need the original ECU. I have wired up the sensor- EHC 1-9 to sensor then sensor to earth.

The Fan Switch doesn't seem to be working. All it does is earth the Fan Circuit which i have checked all works fine. What i am asking is can someone confirm that C101 terminal 7 is the fan switch and that it is just a swtiched earth.

Been through all the diagrams i have and im stumped. Any assistance would be great.

sorry can't help on the wiring but do know that the HondaElise S/C (K-pro) was set to switch on the fan at 86'C which gave a running temperature of 91-93'C
Setting a lower temperature than lotus/rover did means the fan kicks in more often than it would in a K engined car when its kick in at 104'C I think
the N/A car (Omex) I guess kicks in at a lower temperature as it normally sits about 86-89'C and I've only seen 91'C once in 9 month

Many honda cars run the origional Honda ECU which incidentally Tdi rate better than the Omex as its less succeptable to voltage drop ~ the Omex throws the towel in @ or around 10.5 volts

Hopefully Robin of one of our other Electrical wizards will be able to help you more fully

Thanks for the Post Hamish.

I intend on Kpro my ecu in the future.

Good news is I fixed the Coolant Temperature Sender.
It should be EHC1-9 to the Coolant Temp Sender Plug and the actual sender is earthed through the Engine. I added an earth to the 2nd terminal which was throwing the system.

Will have a better look at fan tommorow at least i know the rough temperature of the engine.

Guessing you know that the Honda engine needs more earthing than the K with additonal earths at the gearbox engine block and ECU which had been done on the S/C car and I added to the N/A (Pheonix) which gave a big improvment in the operation of the reverse gear solinoid which now engages more often than not ~well over 85% of the time, still not as slick as the K~pro which switches from the ECU and never missed a beat

Yes, Got that covered. Good thick earths on engine and gearbox.

Whenever there is a problem i always attatch a jump lead from Chassis to Engine just incase anyway.

Just got the fan to get working and thats it done, im away out just now so hopefully get it fixed.
