R888s on OEM S2 (k series) wheels?

Hi,
I need to arrange a new set of tyres for next week (my current tyres are right on the limit and I've got two back to back Walshy days to finish them off). I've had T1R's on for a year or so and found them Ok, but as we're heading into summer and the car has just had a Honda conversion (pick it up on Monday from Sincs!) I was wondering if I should give R888s a try.
I have the uprated toe link kit and nitron dampers however I have the original k-series six spoke wheels which according to the SELOC techwiki are 16x5.5 (recommended 175/55R16) on the front. The R888s in that profile are 205/55ZR16 (permitted rims 5.5"-7.5") - is that extra width going to be a problem?
Thanks in advance for any advice...
Cheers
ali

Yes, TBH. You'll probably get fouling on the arches and they will want to roll off the rim with that overhang. Exacerbated if you actually corner hard enough to need 888s. I'd be tempted to stick AD07s on it until you reach the limits of them, then look at track tyres with an appropriately sized wheel.

Sounds like a no go, far to wide for the wheels. Someone more clever than me will be along soon to explain how to work out the right width/profile ratio to fit your wheels.
Fact is 205/55 are larger diameter than 175/55.
You would be better with 195/50's they wont be far away.

P.S. I agree with shug.. Speak to Sinclairs, they know there stuff.

Aye, John raises a point I wasn't particularly clear about. The '55' in the tyre size refers to a percentage of the tread width, so 55% of a 205 section tyre is a lot more than 55% of a 175 section tyre. Will be far too large for the arches at anything but rest.

I've worn through the arches in standard sized "track" tyres. That width might even get close to rubbing on the brake line or suspension component.
For what it's worth - I used to run 195 toyos on the standard size rim - Toyo say this is ok -yoko say it's not! and I found that the tyre moved on the rim a bit too much for my liking!

Thanks for the info - I'll stick with T1R or AD07 this time round and think about new wheels later.
cheers

The sizing chart for the A048 says you can fit the Yoko's on the std S2 front rims, in a 195/50 R16. Dont know about the toyo sizing chart for the 888 though

LTS spec have it printed on the side wall that they are not to be fitted to standard size rims

Contrary to the common sense approach's above, now is the perfect time for new wheels .You can bundle the cost in with the Honda and only feel poor once ( accept when you need new tyres but we will ignore that ) . You have the Honda , Nitrons and uprated toe link kit now all its needs is some funky rubber if you are going to be tracking it. Sinclairs can set the geo for you..
Hell I bought my wheels last year and have not even paid for them yet , that's why credit cards were invented .

Yeah I know but then I'd have the logistical issue of getting the other set of wheels home from Sincs!

I'd have thought with a bill like you'll end up with, they'd chuck in carriage of your old wheels back home
Well, if you don't ask

You are bad people

I do like your logic though...
I'm going to stick with T1R's for the time being - I'll look at getting new wheels and r888s for trackdays but I'd need a set of road tyres anyway so may as well use them to drive home next week.
Is the following the best choice of sizes:
185/50R16 81V TOYO PROXES T1-R
225/45R17 94Y TOYO PROXES T1-R RF
thanks again!
cheers
