Looks like my battery is foooked.. any advice on the best place to get one in the Fife area... one that will fit properly?

Get one from Dingbros, around £30 and the ones that Craig and I use.

I picked one up from halfrauds yesterday cause it was in a rush -cost 59.99. Type 63 if you didnt know already

You need a 063. And make sure its got a handle. Makes getting in and out a lot easier.

I would be wary about very cheap batteries. Always worth paying a bit extra. A cheap one will probably only last 12-18 months whereas a good one should last 4-5 years.

How do you distinguish between good and evil?

I have bought the Varta Blue Dynamic B18-543 023 039 43 A/H which I believe is the original S1 battery, and the equivalent Bosch for around £32, with handle, which has lasted for years.

Partco, £32 with a 3 year warranty and it comes with a handle.

I think ~£30 is about right. You can't go wrong with Bosch etc. Just stay away from lesser known brands.


The price of batteries goes up and down a lot. I used to buy Bosch ones for £19 (trade) but the last one I got was £38. Twas about 9 months ago now though and I think they've come down again since then.

It came with a 3 year guarantee so I was comforted slightly, but we'll see how it goes I suppose (its currently dead but thats not the batteries fault )
