Scottish Elises

What are the recommendations for S1 tyres ?. Road use only. Advan Neovas ?. Are MMC still doing a deal on tyres ?. Still running P-Zeros after 11 years (waits for the slagging to start, exit stage left, garage queen)

Think people recommend t1r's for daily use. I am just saving for new tyres and brakes for my s1 elise.

Can't go wrong with T1Rs in standard UK weather. Cheap and cheerful.

If you want more performance though you need to spend more! Camskill will get you a set of 4 T1Rs for under £300 (IIRC)

R888 is a track tyre though - agree it can be fine on the road, but won't see the mileage a road tyre will and of no use if the car isn't driven on track IMO.

PS- if you're running 11 year old P Zeros (congrats for not crashing) then even relatively 'cheap' T-1Rs will seem like a total revelation. The Zeros will be damn near solid by now. Good reports about the Kumhos at the end of Ali's list as well - even cheaper option.

Only if you use them properly - the toe links won't spontaneously break

But yeah - if you were at the stage of using 888s or 48s on track properly, toe links are a must (having previously not bothered and subsequently had one let go on the road, I know what a hole it makes in your seat...)

Point is, track tyres are not needed on a car which obviously doesn't see a lot of high-speed cornering (as it's not in a hedge with the tyres it's got)

for the Kumhos. Think they were £181 a set delivered from Camskill.

I'd say they are pretty similar to T1Rs, but better in standing water, and also a bit less road noise in the dry. They're not great for the first 1000miles (but T1Rs are horrendous for the first 1000). So far only driven in winter on crappy/wet roads so never got any heat in them. Would like to get them on track to see how they compare to the T1Rs though....

Thank's for the info'. Not bothered about looking for a budget tyre, I'd rather have the best performer for normal road use. I presumed the Advan Neova LTS having been specifically designed for the Elise would be the best option. Are the other tyres available not simply the correct size but not necessarily specifically designed for the Elise (ie. wall stiffness) ?.

Neova LTS is the best option (if they are available) although Lotus now recommend the C-Drive (again, as per Ali's post) as a direct P-Zero replacement. FWIW, I'd go Neova. SE discount through MMC.

No brainer. Stunner Scudos. Last for ever and used in the Scottish Championships.

Yup, I think the Yoko C-drive are also LTS code so specifically developed for the car though. C-Drives newer technology??? Neovas probably more proven history??? For your usage Robin I don't think you'll go wrong with either - inerested to see the price comparison.

Either will be a big improvement on the P-hero's...

Stick with the P Zeros.........they are just coming to their best at that vintage
