Post by steve_weegie » Mon Nov 17, 2008 1:03 pm

Gents,

Is the liner to block sealant i need just blue hylomar? Part number i have is GGC 102 but needless to say my local rover dealer has never heard of it!

Cheers,

Steve

Yes it does seem as though GGC 102 is hylomar blue - don't use that for the sump, cam or bearing ladders though!!!

Cheers,
Robin

Did I give you a tube of Dow Coring 736 (red silicone RTV) for the sump? If not, got some here.

The liners are floating so need the non drying hylomar for movment but will get displaced from fixed fits and clog internals, at least thats what i think, rest assured Robin will be allong shortly. Either way Im sure you shouldnt use for cam, sump or bearing ladders, think someone did it on a rebuild blog once and had to remove clean and refit?

Cheers guys.

I'll acquire some blue hylomar goo for the liners and will use my red goo for the cam and bearing ladders (loctite anaerobic stuff)

And woody, yes you did indeed give me some other red goo for the sump with the molykote for the crank 8) :thumbsup

Anyone know where i can get hylomar from? Machargs were a bit clueless when i gave them the part number...
