I've become infatuated with the idea of removing the speedo/rev instrumnet stack unit from my VXT!

Not beacuse it doesn't work but beacuse I think it looks pretty average. I've got it in to my head to get a really nice selection of Smiths dials from these guuys wwweuropaspares.com/instruments and mount them in a custom-made replacement 'pod'. Call me shallow but done with skill it could look great and maybe it'll satisfy that dark, ashamed part of me that wants a TVR

I'm a stranger to electricity and clearly wouldn't let myself loose on something like this. Question is does anyone know a company, preferably in NE Scotland that could plum in a new console if I made it?

Or is actually incredibly simple and there are full written instructions on the internet? (Sorry, just p+++ed myself laughing at my own joke).

Off the top of my head you would also need to change

ECU
immobiliser
oil/temp senders
abs
and most of the wiring loom

Stack takes a feed from the ECU and converts that into the revs/speed/etc (BTW, yours won't actually be made by Stack, only the S1s were, but the term has stuck). To do it with individual instruments would most likely involve taking feeds from the individual bits separately (speed sensor, fuel float, etc) and completely bypass the ECU. Not easy or cheap.

Later cars use the CAN bus from ECU to display, so easy peasy to poll the CAN bus for vehicle speed and any other sensor values you want and then just display. You could go old skool and put in a small CRT terminal in there, e.g. like something out of a really old cash machine That would be a proper display - just screeds of text, no graphics

there is an elctronics wizard in scotland who can reprogram the honda s2000 dash to suit other hondas or other cars any fuel sensor ect even a custom red line he also repairs ecus ect ect i will try to remember his site
always thourght a s2000 dash in a s1 with a honda conversion would be cool but it would require a custom housing

Cost and technical diffculty score a hefty 8 out of 10 in my book so project shelved.

Next project, fitting dash air vents to warm my hands in an S2 manner....

IIRC I saw a thread on the vx forum about this and the overall conclusion was it would cost less to sell the vx and buy a s2
