Bodywork issue, repair or not repair, will it get worse...?

Post by Corranga » Sun Nov 09, 2008 3:05 pm

The number plate fell off the VX, and revealed this...

Do we get it repaired, or just stick the number plate back on, if repaired, how?

Is it likely to spread as a crack due to vibration or will it be fine?

Is it worth *gulp* drilling the hole bigger to make it circular, which may stop a crack?

Seconded.

Bit of filler then cover it, you are not going to see it anyway, and the chances are that you will soon pick up worse.

:withstupid

I got a crack that runs from there to within an inch of the wheelarch, and hasn't got any worse in 6k miles. Wouldn't worry about it, other than at least sealing it to keep the guff out.

I'm actually getting quite fond of mine now. 8)

drill it out to 10mm OD and fit a rubber nut (they are called other things but I cannot remember the names) . . . designed for high vibration applications ad things like GRP . . .
