Bulbs ?

Post by cloggie » Sun Oct 05, 2008 6:43 pm

I have got a couple of headlight bulbs out at the moment and im wondering which ones are the best to replace them with?
One of my dipped beam is out and one of the little lights that come on with the main beam are also out. how do i change these? Ive got xennon main beams fitted but the other lights are just standard, is there a pack i can buy that would give me a set of better bulbs all round???

Mate, can't be much help with the bulbs im afraid..

But all I'd say is I wasted SO much money swapping bulbs left right and centre before I got a set of HID's. 1000 times better in every way!

Might not be within budget, but if it is I'd get a set of them instead :thumbsup

ps. - Dip beam HID's are more than sufficient.

The dipped beam needs an H1 bulb - changed one of mine yesterday. Not sure about the other.

another big :thumbsup for HID's

I just recently got round to putting a set on to my dipped beam. the difference is like night and day (pardon the pun)

It's a really easy DIY job too, only slightly more technical than changing the bulbs themselves.

yeah i know how good the HID setup is as ive got HID main beams
but to be honest Im just about to tuck the car away for winter and i would really be pointless getting a set of dipped HIDs fitted just want to put some bulbs in to get it through the MOT next month and to be honest just bought a new house and working 80 hour weeks to get everything done before xmas so throwing money at the car right now is really the last thing on the list :(
Can anyone tell me how i get the covers off the driving lights to change the bulbs? not the main cluster but the glass ones at the bottom?

Ah - these are sealed units (certainly were on the S1) If one has gone, the unit needs replaced. If you're going for an MOT and packing it up, I'd be tempted to take both out, as they are technically an accessory and don't need to be there to pass...

Otherwise, see Eliseparts & the usual internet sources for replacements.

What HIDs did you guys go for? I bought some ridiculously cheap ones on fleabay which are BRIGHT. Only downside is they take, no joking, 20 seconds to come fully on stream.

I've also got an HID light on my 'dale :D
