MIL light came on

Left Livingston this morning as the car was booked in to CLCM for a geo check. 2 mins after setting off, the MIL light came on and it stayed on all the way to Sighthill.
I hadn't used the car for about 1-2 weeks, and it wasn't the warmest of mornings... but the car started on the button, idle was smooth, was pulling fine through the rev range, temperatures were 86 in flowing traffic, 91 when stopped... so all looked/sounded fine, apart from the light. :scratch

I've heard of the MIL coming on if you have a de-cat, but mine still has the standard cat & back-box. I had the 135 cams fitted about 500miles ago and there's been no issues. K&N 57i & 52mm TB was fitted about 250miles ago, and seemed fine also. I wondered if maybe my CAT was on it's way out or something, but I'd have thought I would have noticed a difference in exhaust sound if it had started to disintegrate.

When I went back to pick the car up from Willie's, the MIL had extinguished... and it didn't come back on again the whole way home. I'm now not sure if it was just a sensor/ECU/electrical gremlin that has gone away or whether it was a genuine fault. Can the fault codes still be read once the light has gone out? I'm sure you can get the last X amount of codes via T4 or something. Does anyone have any funky cables/software on here (and the know-how) to read the code?

Or should I just forget about it? I've got to take the car to Glenrothes tomorrow morning so was just a little concerned in case there is something seriously wrong (although I couldn't tell there was any issue from driving it).

(PS... hello to the Titanium S2 who waved on the A71-Lizzie Bryce).

Fault will be saved yeah. In all likelyhood, just a gremlin from the sitting about and cold start - maybe an imperceptible misfire on startup.

Check what the code was, but I'd not worry about it. If it was something major, it wouldn't go out.

Cheers Shug... I think I'll just keep an eye on it... if it pops up again (even if just temporarily) I'll make a point of booking it in somewhere to get the tool on it.

If I remember correctly after 5 engine starts the MIL light goes out if the fault was temporary it will come back on if the fault is still there - awaits someone more technical to point out if this is correct or not.

The manual says that it clears if the fault doesn't return after 40 heat cycles!!
