I reckon a standard S1 back box is nearer 8kg. Not sure if the standard S2 one is lighter ... probably not much in it.
Cheers,

I could well believe that, you really need to compare the two side by side to fully appreciate the difference! My 2bular isn't quite so extreme, but is still dwarfed by the standard exhaust.

For the unenlightened- why is the standard box so heavy in comparison? That's a serious difference.

Silencer box....... Basically its packed to high heavens and back and is just a big lump of steel - I actually don't think they could make it any bigger
My new exhaust is lacking in the silencer box (biggest understatement of the year!), which is why its so light

No its lbs...
3kg - had it specially made by Jim!!
There is one that is 4kg I think at hangar111.com and it's suppose to be the lightest money can buy!
It's insanely loud though..... I mean insanely loud

as I emailed jim at the time but he got cold feet; said it would be a struggle to get below 5kgs.

Remember if it's for a Rover engine, the Yota ones (like in an S2 Exige) could very well be lighter as it's just the silencer box and some very short pipework. Rover one has longer pipes...

mines as S1 so dont feel so bad now - I used to have a Chris Neil version which was about 5.5kgs and was V loud but i fitted a VHPD so had to upgrade hence the Eliseparts one.
Cheers

Yup I think the Rovers have 2 or 3 feet more pipework...
But its the box that weighs the most - so reduce it or take it out the picture altogether and weight will fall drastically!

IIRC the back box forms part of the Crash Structure 'Allegedly'. Not sure what the real impact of changing is but that does ring a bell from amny moons ago.
