New Windscreen

Noticed a small crack had started about 6" up from the bottom right hand corner of my screen, by the time I got home it had grown to about 10" long

.
Was planning on getting auto windscreens to come and change it under insurance.
Anything I need to watch out for or is it just a straight bond in job?
Cheers
Mike

mike when they crack from the bottom corner it can be because the clam has been touching the screen
make sure when its replaced ( clam pulled forward ) the clam has clearance between it and the screen, slide a piece of cardboard between the two for checking clearance
worth fitting a heated screen whilst its being done ?

Mike the clam will have to come off so if they are going to do it they can be a little roughwith the clam bolts. If it hasnt been off in a while you may want to free then off yourself first. Just need it pulled forward a couple of inches but when your at that stage your as well taking it off completly and inspecting suspension etc.

One tip I read before my windscreen was replaced when I bought the car was to make sure the guy fitting it knows the rear view mirror is slightly offset and that he doesn't just bond it on centrally like most cars without looking/checking. Fair chance a general fitter won't have done an Elise before.

Thanks for the above points. Will probably get them to come to me as I will remove the clam, having done it a few times now. As for the mirror, think I will just leave it off, to bloody big anyway.

Ask them first, the guy that did mine had done several Elises before. Dropped it off in the morning picked it up in the evening.
It wasn't even busted just very very stone chipped. And it was 2 days to go on my insurance
