EXIGE s2 Brakes
EXIGE s2 Brakes
Guys Im having a little bother with my brakes, they pull for no reason but only some of the time(quite violently). Discs and pads are ok and pistons seem fine. I tried bleeding with a pressure bleed which has made little difference, is there a different routine because of the abs? My last elise didnt even have servo assist let alone abs! Cheers Craig.

Re: EXIGE s2 Brakes
Mine were bled in the same fashion as my old 111s.....and I've not had any probs....yet!
What do they do on a flat/camber-free road?
How are your tyre pressures?
Both my exige and my old elise pulled badly when there was a camber.
I'm sure Robin will sort you out in a mo.

Re: EXIGE s2 Brakes
Its only happening when Im out on a fast run, and when it does has little effect with camber changes. If on a flat bit of empty road and perform an emergency stop (hands off the wheel) the steering wheel will rotate sharply by more than 30 degrees. When Im driving I tend to hold the wheel fairly loose and have seen the wheel shoot though my fingers, tut can vouch for yesterday.

Re: EXIGE s2 Brakes
The S1 and non-ABS s2 have the same brake pressure on both front pistons IIRC, so you should always get balance braking effort left-to-right, assuming the mechanical parts are in good working order.
No idea about the ABS variants - but clearly if there is scope for it turning off brake pressure on each wheel individually then it could make it pull - if it's that type of system - pretty sure it will be that type of system (do they call them 4-channel ABS?).
Try disconnecting all the wheel speed sensors so that the ABS system has no inputs and thus won't do anything and then see whether you have the same problems with the brakes.
Does it always pull the same way?
Cheers,
Robin

Re: EXIGE s2 Brakes
Its a 4 channel abs module
If its any use I should have a spare abs pump somewhere?

Re: EXIGE s2 Brakes
Its difficult to repeat in the same way as it always behaves slightly different. I have to say that it only happens when covering ground at fairly rapid pace ie when out with tut. When Im home tonight Ill disconnect all sensors and have another go. Ive also had mail from a guy at lotus who may be able to offer advice. Thanks all, craig.
