just done a 225 mile trip to Kirkcudbright, and now have a rattle like there's no tomorrow - been into the engine bay and manually put on throttle, and I'm buggered if I know where it's coming from. Always when accelerating between 2 - 3k rpm, and de-celerating in the same range.
It's not the roof bars in the boot before you ask

Hows about a cup of tea & bacon butty to he who identifies and suggests a fix with duct-tape?

fiver please shugeroonie! Found out what my rattle was - looked under the car and there looked to be 2 hose clips rusted and hanging out of the two cut-aways on the undertray before the diffuser. Tried to grab them & yank them out, but they're attached to something that feels like flexi... Should there be any flexi on the S1 that's so close to the undertray?
The car is running ok, and sounding ok, so I have no idea what this random loose flexi is..

Erm? The flexi is welded together with the mesh on the outside, there shouldn't be any clamps unless someone has fixed it with jubilee type clips... whip the trays off and have a proper look!
