Going to buy a set when the Exige gets here next week...

Currently found one place doing a set of 4 for £280 incl VAT and delivery (which I think is excellent)...

195/50R16 84V TL TOYO T1R
225/45R17 94Y XL TL TOYO T1R

(These the right sizes etc?)

Only buying because I will be using the car as a daily driver, so I want something that will work well in the wet weather..! Can anyone advise if these are the way forward, or is there something better around the same price?

Also on another note if anyone has a set they are not using let me know if you would sell them on

I use them and like them, especialy in the wet and they wear well too. As for sizes, you are indeed correct

A good bet for a road tyre, especially at that price.

They will also work on the track, but if you are driving hard, they will start to go off after around eight laps.

ive just replaced my T1R rears for the same again this time round.
some people mention that they take 1k miles to bed in... im not so sure - i got mine fitted this morning and went a run from cumbernauld-Falkirk-kircardine-alloa-tillicoutry-callendar-dukes pass(twice)-aberfoyle-strathblane-kilsyth then home.
They started to feel better around alloa and by the time i got to a very wet (but empty) dukes pass they were feeling great.

I also done 2 trackdays and a walshy day in the previous set as well as several thousand road miles - as tut says after about 6/7 laps of knockers they were starting to throw a wobbly!

At that price you cant really go wrong so go for it

I'll be going for another set of rears.

I like them as they are cheap and you don't have to worry about them in poor weather

They have softer sidewalls so you need to run higher pressures than other tyres. I would recommend F: 25 R: 28 for an S2 Exige.

Really good road tyre, especially in the wet.

Was just thinking this. I was running T1Rs on FF6, and in UK before and after, with my usual pressures, ie 22.5F and 24.5R (ish-but these when cold, according to the Draper Digithing I have), and didn't like them because of the soft sidewalls. Round any bend, they were nowhere near as sharp as the BFGs I've still got on. Really woolley. Didn't think about upping the pressures . I suppose I figured it would then cause uneven wear along the centre, although I suppose if you've got daft camber that'll shag'em quicker anyway.....

So, anyone driven BFGs, and then able to compare them to T1Rs at higher pressure?

I was half thinking about R1Rs if they appear anytime soon, as will need a new set before long....

i hated them for the 1st 1k miles. and for track days. Went off within 3 laps at Cadwell with my calmer driving style! (the brakes were nearly done!)

Did you consider 888's ? Longer lasting than A048's but still pretty grippy

Have considered, but was kind of hoping these R1Rs were going to be a bit cheaper. Come to think of it, I've no idea what a set of 888s cost for an S1. I had a feeling they were around £400 a set, similar ish to the Neovas, and the AO48s. Bearing in mind I paid £187 del. for the last set of T1Rs I bought...

Yes, I know, shouldn't scrimp on tyres etc etc, but I kind of like having 1 set of tyres I can abuse all year round, bearing in mind I only have one set of wheels, and use it as a daily driver....

Then again, 888s for FF7 would be good....

Ed, what you reckon's in the budget for tyres this year??

Lewis I have them on my Exige love them in the wet but want my A048s back in the dry - you just cant win
