Elise suspension specialist - Glasgow

Post by mattg » Sat Feb 02, 2008 6:18 pm

Hi folks, looking for a recommendation for a suspension specialist somewhere in Glasgow (southside maybe).

I hit a pothole the other day and since then my rear end has been a little skittish over the bumps.

Thanks,
Matt

Probably has knocked the geometry out a bit then, I think JJ reccomended a rally car place at hillington whose name escapes me just now, someone Brown maybe?

I took my blue elise to Kenny Brown who was good, and had the exige done last week at Drivers having replaced the steering rack and they were very thorough and let me see what was up with it and check all the measurements and angles etc before and after. I also have a sheet of before and after with about 30 readings I dont understand which looks good in my phonebook sized pile of receipts.

JJ, how much did drivers take? I'm struggling to get my car into work to do the work myself, they'd be handy.

The only problem is they are not cheap, their labour rate is £47 / hr inc VAT, however I can see them from the office so its handy, and going by how much better the car feels it was money well spent.

Kenny Browns were £120sih from memory so not that much in it, and Drivers do appear to have done a good job. I just liked the fact that I was able to go in when it was on the ramps and the mechanic Gary talked me through it and showed me the book settings and where the car actually was.

jaked the car up at the weekend, it appears that the rear left shocker has popped a seal.

can the original dampers be repaired ok?
can i buy individual replacements (or pairs of)?
or do i have to buy a whole new set... if so wheres best to get a new set?

I recall when DDtB blew a seal in his car - don't think he's allowed to park anywhere near Edinburgh Zoo now. :D

Ive got a set of konis that I was given when i bought the lotus.

however, they spent a month sitting on the patio of the back garden late last summer before I purchased a shed (garden shed - not my elise!)

you're welcome to take them away if you fancy a drive over to cumbernauld - cant guarantee if they are in good condition though, so Nizzy's offer may be better... unless he's removing them because they are farked!
