S2 Wheel Nuts

Post by r10crw » Tue Dec 04, 2007 2:54 pm

Anyone know about the locking wheel nuts on the s2 exige? The exige has three studs which take a large torque bit which was on a bar in the boot. The remaining stud is some form of locking wheel stud with a wavy pattern on it. Just wondered if this is standard and if so could anyone see if its the same as theirs from a picture? Either that or the dremel got a fair bit of work ahead! :(
Cheers Craig.

Nah, the security bolt is specific to the car - not sure on how many combinations though. Did you not get a big red tag on one of the sets of keys? I think thats got the bolt number on it...

MMC might be able to get the bolt set used from lotus though.

Tried MMC but there not really interested. Id hoped that there was maybe only 20 sets in which case I could borrow just to get them out. Think Im gonna have to dremel a slot in the head and use a chisel in the slot with a spanner to turn it. Cheers Craig

Well poor show from MMC IMHO. You could try lotus them selves though - might be more helpful? Better than the dremel option!

True, but they are the only lotus representatives north of the border ;) I'd give lotus a bell direct with the chassis number - if anybody can trace it, they can :thumbsup

If the locking nuts have not been changed on the car, Lotus can match the chassis number to the correct lock nut tool.
I had to do this recently (through MMC) but as it turns out, the nuts on my car had been changed from the original pattern and I ended up having to provide the letter stamped on the key so they could get the right replacement key to me.

Had to do this twice since the keys are made of toffee. :)
