hi guys,
my car has developed an annoying noise.
i have a 55 plate 111r.
ok gonna try and describe this as best i can but forgive the terms cos i'm not a technical person.

.
mainly happens at cruising speeds. when i take my foot off the throttle (say to slow down but not enough to need the brakes). i think this is called a trailing throttle. there is a very light rattling/tizz.
i thought it was maybe the undertray cos i know on here there has been loads o posts about loose bolts so i gave them all a nip up anyway but still have the noise
i also noticed when i press the clutch in the noise disappears and then comes back when i let the clutch out.
anybody got any ideas cos it is doin my head in
thanks

I am sure I read a post saying that the floor sometimes vibrates under the seats and someone had wedged stuff under the seat to stop it. An expert will be along soon I would imagine.

Getting it booked in with Ali for a few things though so will let you know if he can find anything

My guess is a coin stuck down the cover of the handbrake it makes an awful rattling noise rattles on teh floow and handbrake cover two different sounds - slide a piece of wire under the bottom of the cover and drivers seat to see if you get resistance and can dislodge it.
Failing that Ali os SLS is your man.

Ive only got an S1

but i had this problem, I pop rivitted two meter long , or so, aluminium strips about an inch in breadth along the underside rear plate, pointing toards the front of the car.
Noise stopped.
Just a penny worth.

My 111R did the same thing and it was the exhaust heatshield mountings that had rotted and the whole thing was rattling. 6 months later something under there is rattling and I think I have the same problem again.

My 111s S2 does this too.
My S1 111S also did it.
Quite annoying.
Appendix E of the owners manual explains it in detail, apparently it's a feature.

Mine doesn't. It stops when I kick the back of the car though.

mine has done the same since I put on the stage 2, I'm pretty sure that it's the exhaust touching the heat shield
