S2 Kit

Post by Baggy » Sun Sep 23, 2007 11:00 pm

Finally got round to fitting the S2 kit bought via the group buy on Seloc in the spring.

Took the car out for a wee test and wow....what a difference.

Only finally got round to it cos I noticed that there was oil pissing out of the existing konis so they weren't brand new.

much less crashy/skittish, more compliant, definitely improved traction when coming out of corners...

Gonna get it in to Mark at inverurie to check that the change in ride height hasn't affected the toe.

That is all.

Second all of that :-)

My change was from Spax, they weren't so crashy as Konis but boy were they hard, and they had developed a symphony all of their own after about 40k-50k miles !!

Bilsteins all the way for those of us who don't want to have to be tinkering all the time.

should also notice the difference when the oil in the dampers is warm - mine are pretty harsh in the morning, but superb when warm - v.smooth (jessy S2 driver who has to drive on some sh*tty, potholed, cobbled streets)

I did wonder about this phenomenon - the Spax certainly seemed a little less brutal when warm!

Glad to see the Bilsteins share it...haven't really been far enough in the car to be able to tell as yet!

ah yes, Robin and I did some "rudimentary" tests and although not far off, I will need the toe checking...but have other front wheel work to do first so no point in setting it just yet :-)
